Assistant Accountant - Derby

Myton Food Group Manufacturing (Morrison’s Group) is recruiting for an assistant accountant on a permanent basis to join their team in Derby or Spalding. This will be working in the Horticulture division.

With over 300 florists and multiple gardens centre, each bouquet and plant is treated with care and consideration before it leaves our site ensuring the best possible quality for our customers. Not only that, we also use specialised techniques to check how our flowers and plants are going to develop through their life, so we can keep them at their very best. Here, we make over 400,000 bouquets every week using hand tying methods and machinery. We also make over 2.5m plants over the year. This grows significantly at busy times, such as Valentine’s Day. We prepare 1.3 million bouquets a week on the run up to Mother’s Day. At Myton, you can look forward to great training and a rewarding career.

Some of you key duties will include:

• Preparing and posting accruals, prepayments and adjustment journals
• Conducting analysis and processing activities in line with role requirements
• Managing the weekly performance reporting process for Manufacturing sites, working closely with site finance teams
• Preparing period end management accounts including balance sheet reconciliations, in line with role requirements
• Provide reporting and periodic operational reviews
• Supplier queries
• Provide cover for wider team if/when required
• Influence internal and external stakeholders to achieve objectives

For this role, we are looking for someone who has:

• Working towards an accounting qualification (ACCA,ACA,CIMA)
• Good verbal communication skills, ability to articulate financial data in a clear and transparent way
• Resilience and the ability to adapt in an ever changing environment
• Attention to detail
• Good excel use and understand of macros helpful but not essential
• Proactive and able to work in a fast paced environment
• This role may occasionally require travel to Spalding
