Assistant Biomass Maintenance Technician



Alternative Heat is a leading provider of Biomass Boiler Systems and Commercial Energy Solutions, and we offer a full Operation and Reactive Maintenance packages for all the systems we provide. We currently have a team of Service and Maintenance Engineers covering our Biomass Boiler Installations throughout the UK and we are looking to expand our Scottish Highlands Team via the recruitment of a Field Based Biomass Maintenance Technician.


Location: Highlands – Inverness

Start Date: ASAP

Salary: Negotiable – Experience Dependent

Responsible to: S&M Line Manager – Andrew Addis


Description


We are looking to appoint a full time, Field Based Assistant Biomass Maintenance Technician to assist with the daily operational requirements of the existing team in place. Any relevant experience will be beneficial – however full product specific training will be provided.

For the right candidate an opportunity to develop into a fully qualified Biomass service engineer will be available.


Overview


This is a full-time position with working hours from 7am – 5pm Monday to Friday. The successful candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following tasks,


  1. Visually inspect heating plant on a Bi-Monthly basis whilst on site carrying out Planned Preventative Maintenance Tasks
  2. Assist our engineers in carrying out Biannual Planned Preventative Maintenance tasks such as Boiler Servicing, Fuel Store Cleaning etc.
  3. Ensure Fuel Stores and Energy Centre’s are kept clean, tidy and free from dust or pellet spillages
  4. Record all site visits on Electronic Workflow Management Package using Tablet Device
  5. Attend sites throughout the Highlands to carry out the removal of Ash on Biomass boilers (Full training will be given)


Essential Criteria:


  • Clean Driving License
  • Previous experience in a relevant job role.
  • Willing to learn
  • Ability to work alone for long periods
  • Logical and sensible approach to daily tasks.
  • Good interpersonal Skills.
  • Good verbal communication skills



Desirable Criteria:


  • Flexible and practical approach to daily tasks.
  • Ability to cope with the reactive nature of the role.
  • Previous Experience in Commercial M&E Trade
  • A practical “hands on’’ approach to daily tasks
