This role is responsible for supporting the PPE Category team to develop and manage a product portfolio to drive sales and profitable growth - using market intelligence and industry knowledge to ensure we have the best products to service our customers. Working in partnership with our centrally managed suppliers and in collaboration with cross functional colleagues to maximise supplier commercial opportunities, ensuring the most competitive procurement costs and increasing supplier income.

What will you do on a normal day? - Product Life Cycle Management:
- Assist Category Managers to manage product introduction, growth, maturity and exit including driving through excess/obsolete inventory.
- Category portfolio analysis:
- Support the team with analysis and reporting of product line and category performance.
- Competitor Analysis:
- Analysis of competitor activity, especially through digital channels
- Supplier Management:
- Work with our Supply base for new and existing product queries including master data, content, marketing materials and inventory information.
- Product Costing:
- Support the team with supplier negotiations to include but not limited to marketing funding, rebates, product cost prices, payment terms, scorecards and performance metrics.
- Marketing Initiatives:
- Work with suppliers to develop and execute marketing programs geared towards profitable revenue growth.
- Merchandising & Online Content:
- Support the team with category analysis and support the production of content across multiple channels and media.

- Support the team with day-to-day query management across all areas including pricing, merchandising, supplier queries and product alternatives

Qualifications
Essential Qualifications & Skills
- Some experience in Category Management/Buying support.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills across all levels.
- Effective IT skills including Office suite and ideally Power Bi too.
- Ideally an understanding of trading and merchandising in a digital world
- Ideally experience in a distribution business with a large number of suppliers, brands and sku’s.
