We are looking for a motivated and detail-focused Assistant Client Accountant to join our Finance team in Birmingham. This role will provide essential support across day-to-day financial operations, ensuring timely and accurate processing of transactions, maintaining records, and assisting with reconciliations and reporting. The ideal candidate will have a proactive approach and a strong foundation in finance processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting month-end and year-end financial close processes
- Supporting completion of service charge year ends, cash reconciliations and budgets
- Assisting with funding requests
- Liaising with internal teams and external suppliers to resolve queries
- Assisting in the preparation of VAT returns and audit support documentation
- Assisting with VAT reconciliations
- Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with internal controls
- Providing general support to the wider finance team as required
Skills & Experience
- Prior experience in an Accounts Assistant or similar finance role
- Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and accounting systems (e.g. Yardi, Oracle, or similar)
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team
- AAT/accounting qualification (or working towards) is desirable but not essential
