Assistant Cost Planner

We’re hiring an Assistant Cost Planner to support our team in Scotland with cost control, financial reporting, and data analysis on a variety of exciting capital projects.

This role is ideal for someone early in their career who enjoys working with numbers, solving problems, and supporting cross-functional teams.

🔍 What You’ll Be Doing

• Assisting with the tracking and analysis of project costs, budgets, and forecasts
• Supporting the production of financial reports and cost dashboards
• Reviewing data to help identify trends, risks, and opportunities
• Helping prepare summaries, variance reports, and insights for internal stakeholders
• Using tools like Microsoft Excel and Power BI to manage and present project data
• Collaborating with engineers, project managers, and commercial teams

✅ What We’re Looking For

• Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
• Confident using Microsoft Excel (Power BI or similar tools is a bonus)
• Analytical mindset – someone who enjoys working with data and interpreting numbers
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Able to work well both independently and as part of a team
• Keen to develop and grow within a cost or commercial support environment

🎓 Ideal For Candidates Who Are

• On an apprenticeship or graduate path (finance, engineering, or analytics-related)
• Completing or working towards a project controls qualification (e.g. ECITB Level 6)
• Looking for real-world exposure to cost and performance management on active projects
