Assistant DCO Manager

Join us and co-ordinate critical Net Zero projects

As an Assistant DCO Manager, you'll help with the co-ordination of nationally significant infrastructure projects and build your technical understanding of the Development Consent Order (DCO) process to help obtain consent for the green energy projects that will drive the move to Net Zero.

You will assist the team in co-ordinating the preparation of DCO applications and the examination phase of our major infrastructure projects; working within our East Coast Onshore portfolio.

You’ll become part of a team with a very strong track record in gaining DCO approvals; we have a large inhouse team and use consultants for specific specialisms as required. You’ll be involved at every stage of the project life cycle and the co-ordination aspect of the DCO application and examination for the North Humber to High Marnham project.

By reinforcing the network in the centre of the country, the project will facilitate the connection of more renewable and low carbon electricity, to allow clean green energy to be carried around the network. That’s a job anyone can be proud of.

In this role you can enjoy our hybrid working from office and home. You'll be flexible to travel to sites mostly in the East and North East of England as required.

Key accountabilities

• Assist in co-ordinating and managing the input of a multi-disciplinary technical team to prepare and deliver all relevant documents throughout the project stages.
• Understand the list of deliverables and the schedule for them, and work with project team members from all disciplines to ensure they understand their assigned roles and responsibilities.
• Assist the project DCO Manager, Document Controller and/or Production Management Lead to manage the review process of all deliverables, and final production of the application and examination submissions.
• Work to drive efficiencies and value for money whilst also preserving National Grid’s reputation.
• Help to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and timely delivery of DCO documentation, by using/adopting the relevant processes and controls.
• Support the DCO Manager in co-ordinating procedural requirements at each stage of the project process including statutory consultation, application submission, pre-examination and examination.
• Help to co-ordinate stakeholder engagement across multi-disciplinary teams in respect of the DCO.

About you

• An understanding of the Planning Act 2008 and Infrastructure Planning Regulations, Planning Inspectorate Advice Notes, and others, as may be required.
• A degree in a relevant subject, or relevant project experience specific to DCO projects and the legal requirements of the Planning Act 2008 and relevant regulations and advice notes.
• Clear, concise, and open communication skills. You are a positive addition to your team and committed to contributing to a supportive work environment.
• The flexibility to travel as and when required, mostly to the East and North East of England.

What you'll get

A competitive salary between £47,000 - £55,000 – dependent on capability.
