Are you passionate about shaping the future of UK infrastructure? Octavius is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Assistant Design Manager to join our Highways Business Unit , supporting the delivery of innovative and sustainable transport solutions.
About The Role
As an Assistant Design Manager, you'll play a key role in coordinating and supporting design activities across a portfolio of highways projects. Working closely with the Design Manager and wider project teams, you'll help ensure design solutions meet client expectations, regulatory standards, and internal governance from feasibility through to construction handover.

About The Role
As an Assistant Design Manager, you'll play a key role in coordinating and supporting design activities across a portfolio of highways projects. Working closely with the Design Manager and wider project teams, you'll help ensure design solutions meet client expectations, regulatory standards, and internal governance from feasibility through to construction handover.
You'll be working on. (what your role and responsibility is)
- Assist in implementing design strategies and managing deliverables across multiple projects.
- Coordinate with internal teams, external designers, and stakeholders to ensure smooth communication and collaboration.
- Support technical assessments, site investigations, and pre-construction planning.
- Promote safety, quality, and sustainability throughout the design process.
- Maintain design documentation and contribute to risk and change management processes.
- Provide input into tenders and commercial activities.

About You. (what You Are Skilled At)
- Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience supporting infrastructure projects, ideally within highways or civil engineering.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communicator with a collaborative mindset.
- Familiarity with NEC3 contracts and CDM Regulations.
- Working towards chartership (ICE, APM) and relevant safety training.
