Assistant Development Manager - Bristol

With a pipeline spanning the South West and Southern England, this is your chance to be involved in delivering impactful schemes ranging from 100 to 1,000+ units.

Whether your background is in development or planning, this company thrives on hiring individuals who are highly numerate, commercially aware, and passionate about placemaking and the broader property and political landscape. You’ll play a vital role in supporting or driving forward complex, large-scale projects—often in partnership with JV collaborators—and collaborating closely with Land and Construction teams throughout the development lifecycle.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Evaluating potential sites for development in tandem with the Land team, assessing both planning and viability prospects.
• Managing pre-application submissions and full planning applications with the support of external planning consultants.
• Conducting due diligence, feasibility reviews, and full development appraisals to assess commercial viability.
• Coordinating with internal departments and overseeing a wide range of external consultants.
• Negotiating Section 106 agreements and working on the discharge of planning conditions and RMAs.
• Representing the company at Planning Committees, public consultations, and stakeholder meetings throughout the planning journey.

What You’ll Bring

• A degree in Development or Town Planning (preferably RTPI or RICS accredited).
• Previous experience in a consultancy, developer, or housing association setting.
• Strong communication skills, a sharp analytical mindset, and a team-focused attitude.
• Motivation, resilience, and a genuine desire to immerse yourself in every stage of the development process.
