Job Introduction

Milton Keynes Educational Psychology Service is seeking a creative and motivated Assistant Educational Psychologist to join a supportive team that values diverse psychological approaches.

We prioritise early intervention, prevention, and systemic work, with a strong emphasis on training and capacity building.

There is an emphasis on the application of psychology to improve outcomes for children and young people across all levels—individual, group, and environmental.

The team is developing its community focused work and prides itself on offering a rich range and breadth of psychologically informed work and manageable work loads.

This is a site-based role.

Interviews for this role will be held on 30 July.

Main Responsibility

  • Work with and alongside the educational psychology team.
  • Deliver supervised intervention work.
  • Contribute to project work and assist in evaluating outcomes.
  • Conduct research on psychological topics to support the team.
  • Participate in working groups and multi-agency meetings.

The Ideal Candidate

  • A psychology graduate with graduate basis for registration (GBR) with the BPS who has experience of working with children and young people in education, social or health care services.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A good understanding of the needs of young people whose access to education is affected by social, emotional or mental health needs.
  • A strong understanding of relevant legislation, ethical standards, and principles of equality, alongside excellent workload management and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Possesses a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for business use.
  • Appointment is subject to an enhanced DBS check.

Our roles are either designated ‘site based’ or ‘home based’. ‘Site based’ roles can include up to two days a week working from home whilst ‘home based’ roles are based at home four days a week. Of course, managers designate which category roles are in based on the needs of the service and the circumstances.
