Job Description
Costain have won extensive work across the water sector this year to support the AMP 8 investment cycle. We have been appointed by Northumbrian Water to the Living Water Enterprise to help shape and deliver its strategic infrastructure upgrade programme.
This site based role will be working with the Finance Manager, supporting multiple projects across the Framework. The role will be responsible for either managing the delivery or assisting the Finance Manager in the business unit transactional accounting, whilst working closely with the site team.
There will be a need to be on site 3 days a week.
Responsibilities
- Cost capture and record keeping
- Understand and input cost journals, accruals and prepayments to ensure monthly cost accuracy
- 3 way match of Purchase Invoices as per internal governance
- Liaising with supply chain and closing out queries effectively
- Monitor open and receipted orders and clear / remove where necessary
- Record and reconcile the corporate purchase card in a timely fashion so that both allocation and monthly accruals can be achieved in line with the period end dates
- Assist stores in maintenance of registers
- Understand and update the weekly plant liabilities in a timely manner
- Remove excess liabilities where necessary ensuring accurate costs are maintained
- Department administration and maintenance of filing systems
- Provide accounts support to the wider team, including provision of adhoc reports
- Drive improvements in process and reporting
- Identify and champion best practice from within and outside Costain to improve financial management including automation of processes
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a similar role within a Finance function
- Knowledge and experience of the invoice processing function
- Clear communicator and excellent team-worker, builds effective relationships and influences across business functions at all levels
- Excellent excel skills
- Able to work on own initiative
- Ideally have or studying for accountancy qualifications
- Desirable E1 system experience
