About the role
The Assistant Controller will be responsible for supporting the UK Financial Controller and a wider finance team in the maintenance and preparation of the UK EPI site’s financial reporting information.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Support the management of the UK EPI site’s underlying accounting records, general ledger and associated accounting systems for SW sites.
- Support the UK Financial Controller with annual budgets and monthly financial forecasts, the preparation of monthly financial reporting packs for UK sites
- Compliance with all UK, IFRS and UK taxation regulatory requirements (financial and tax)
- Support the annual financial audit with the preparation of deliverables
- Support the creation and refinement of financial policies and procedures to improve operational workflows
- Maintain Fixed Asset Register, including Fixed Asset Counts and depreciation
- Responsible for recording R&D activity and expenditure accurately
- Meet monthly financial deadlines consistently and efficiently
- Maintain internal controls, systems and financial processes by documenting and following procedures
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledgers by performing checks for transaction accuracy and completeness
- Provide ad-hoc financial reporting information to UK sites and functional management teams such as supplier/customer or inventory history.
- Collaborate with shared services to support transactional finance activity
- Support project managers with the preparation of project claim submissions to government agencies such as Innovate UK.
- Support of ONS Survey submissions UK Census Bureau Surveys
- Preparation of routine and ad-hoc analyses as required
- Preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations including (but not limited to) fixed assets, prepayments and R&D tax receivable
- Manage inter company balances including the netting down and agreeing balances at month end with all sites
- Support the UK Financial Controller with the preparation of annual budgets
- Support UK Financial Controller with preparation of deliverables and samples for the annual financial audit
- Conduct annual fixed asset count
About you
- Demonstrated experience in a related role
- Ability to build effective working relationships with all stakeholders
- Excellent organisation and communication skills, ability to work to tight deadlines with strong attention to detail
- Willing to challenge the status quo and generate ideas for improvement
- High level of IT literacy, especially excel, skilled in use of accounting software (Microsoft NAV is a plus)
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A or B.S.) Or Accounting Qualification or Qualified by experience
