About The Role
Join our team as an Assistant Locomotion Planner to support the Loco Planning team on delivering Real time monitoring of the GB Railfreight / Network Rail Track Access contracts. This role will be essential is ensuring that we meet the GBRf the locomotive plan consistently with our high standards.
We are looking for a motivated and adaptable individual with a proactive approach to work and a strong focus on accuracy and results. The successful candidate will demonstrate initiative and the ability to anticipate and resolve issues efficiently, supporting the smooth delivery of operational and planning activities whilst maintaining our high standards of professionalism.
This role is based in our Peterborough office.
The salary is £23,000 - £27,000

Main Responsibilities
- Assist the loco planning team in creating and monitoring train services to ensure compliance with the locomotive plan.
- Perform administrative duties to support the successful delivery of loco planning activities.
- Manage locomotive fuelling operations by coordinating fuel deliveries at available locations.
- Provide forthcoming weekly loco plans, utilising all GB Railfreight locomotive assets effectively and meeting Maintenance supplier’s requirements.
- Provide timely data and observations to loco planners to support monitoring and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Oversee fuel ordering and deliveries with a focus on cost efficiency and operational effectiveness.
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively across teams.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
- Customer-focused, flexible, and able to work effectively under pressure.
- Competent in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- GCSEs (or equivalent) grade C or above in English and Mathematics.
Desirable
- Exposure to a similar role previously
- Understanding of Railway Operational and Train Planning Rules
- Valid UK driving licence.
