About This Opportunity
Cumberland Council Children’s Services are looking for an engaging individual to join our team as Assistant Manager at 32 Huntley Avenue, Penrith, working with Looked After Children, in our 4 bedded children’s home and 3 bedded supported accommodation unit “The Next Door”. You will primarily be working with young people supporting them into independence, providing them with high quality support, ensuring their voice is heard and their wellbeing is a priority.
The purpose of the Next Door is to provide a safe, supported, and nurturing environment for young people who are transitioning from care to independence. To provide a high-quality care experience, which enables young people to feel valued and confident, by achieving and celebrating their successes.
As an Assistant Manager, you will oversee a team of Residential Support Workers to support the smooth management of The Next Door as well as working in the Residential Children’s Home registered for four young people. You will work in collaboration with a wide range of professionals to ensure the best support and outcomes for children and young people. This will include identifying specific areas of support, allocation of key workers and a review of service for each case managed. As well as managing caseloads, you will chair meetings between all relevant agencies as part of the service review programme.

Essential Knowledge And Qualifications Include
- Children’s Home Regulations (2001) and amendments
- The Supported Accommodation (England) Regulations 2023
- Children Act 1989
- National Minimum Standards
- LSCB safeguarding policy
- Awareness of legislation, research, and best practice in childcare and safeguarding
- Ability to assess individual needs and create child-centred care plans
- Social work or relevant qualification for working with children and young people

Enhanced DBS check with a Children’s Barred List check.
