Role overview


The experienced, dynamic and growing Financial Advisory team in London is looking for a Chartered Accountant to join their team from either an audit, advisory or transaction services background.


The successful candidate will work on a wide range of assignments spanning transaction services, pre-lending reviews and independent business reviews. These assignments include working with investors, management teams and lenders to undertake financial and commercial analysis on businesses in the lower mid-market across the corporate life cycle.


Key Responsibilities


Transaction Services / Financial Due Diligence:

  • Assist in the preparation of buy-side and sell-side financial due diligence reports, as well as pre-lending reviews for lender clients.
  • Lead the analysis and reporting on management accounts, key financial information and the business environment.
  • Identify and comment on unusual trends or variances and suggest potential causes.
  • Actively participate in commercial discussions with senior team members and clients on issues identified.


Independent Business Reviews (IBR):

  • Conduct thorough assessments of clients’ business operations, financial health, and strategic positioning.
  • Sensitise financial forecasts for key business risks, with reference to potential mitigants.
  • Develop detailed IBR reports outlining findings, risks, and recommendations.
  • Present IBR findings to stakeholders, including lenders, management teams and investors, to support informed decision-making.
  • Collaborate with clients to implement recommended actions and monitor progress.


Client Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and objectives.
  • Provide high-quality, tailored advice and support throughout the transaction process.


Team Collaboration:

  • Work alongside the existing team to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Promote continuous learning and professional development within the team.
  • Work closely with Partners on engagements.


Qualifications


  • Chartered Accountant (ACA or equivalent qualified), with post-qualified experience.
  • Strong professional exam performance, with strong first-time pass grades in most modules, including the core accounting and financial analysis modules of your relevant qualifying body.
  • Proficiency with Excel, strong core maths skills.
  • Awareness of capital structures and bank facilities used in the lower mid-market in the UK.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.

  • Clear understanding of how operational issues can impact finances, and vice-versa, such as how operational issues can impact profit and loss and cash flow differently, and how working capital fluctuations impact cash.
  • Ability to develop and analyse sometimes incomplete financial information.
