Leonid is proud to be retained by a leading advisory and accountancy firm with the appointment of an R&D Tax Assistant Manager into their growing London based R&D team.

This role sits within a technically strong, R&D Tax team and offers broad exposure across the full R&D lifecycle. It is particularly well suited to someone who enjoys owning their work end to end, working autonomously, and playing a hands on role in both the technical and commercial aspects of R&D tax claims.

There is a strong emphasis on the costing and numerical side of R&D, alongside client interaction and technical delivery, making this an excellent opportunity for someone looking to step up their responsibility and visibility.

The role

Delivering R&D Tax claims end to end, from initial engagement through to submission
Taking a lead role on the costing and financial analysis underpinning R&D claims
Preparing and reviewing detailed claim workings, cost models, and supporting schedules
Drafting technical summaries and narratives to support innovation claims
Managing day-to-day client relationships, including queries, deadlines, and meetings

Working closely with Managers and Senior Managers on complex engagements

Contributing to HMRC submissions and supporting any subsequent enquiries

Identifying opportunities to add value across the wider tax and advisory teams

This is a true 360 role, combining technical R&D delivery, costing, client management, and commercial awareness.

What they’re looking for

Proven experience preparing and delivering R&D Tax claims
Strong numerical and analytical capability, with confidence in cost analysis
A solid understanding of R&D legislation, guidance, and practical application
Comfortable taking ownership of workstreams and managing multiple projects
Self-motivated, inquisitive, and confident working autonomously
Strong written skills, particularly around technical summaries and reports
Tax qualifications (CTA, ACA, ACCA, CA or similar) are highly desirable
