The
Assistant Port Accountant will play a key role in supporting DP World’s financial operations at the port level. This is a fast-paced, collaborative environment, and the successful candidate will be a proactive, ambitious, detail-oriented contributor with strong analytical and communication skills.
Location: Stanford le Hope, Essex with occasional travel to Southampton, expected once every other month
Hours: Monday – Friday, 37.5 hours per week
Contract: Permanent
How You Will Contribute
- Produce and maintain Port management accounts, ensuring accurate coding and financial control.
- Deliver ad-hoc financial and commercial analyses to support Port operations.
- Prepare monthly budget holder packs and variance analyses, engaging directly with budget holders.
- Support the implementation and monitoring of Port budgets and forecasts.
- Assist in regional and head office financial reporting.
- Prepare and present monthly management accounts, KPIs, and performance explanations to Port Management.
- Collaborate with budget holders to prepare annual budgets and control expenditure.
- Monitor and report on financial performance, highlighting risks and potential overspends.
- Approve purchase orders and ensure correct financial processes and coding.
- Assist with cost analysis for projects, audits, and tax queries.
- Deliver ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting to senior management.
- Support the Accounts and Revenue Manager with revenue structure understanding.
- Deputise for the Port Finance Manager when required.
- Participate in ad-hoc projects and initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with DP World’s Fatal Risk Standards and Health & Safety policies.
Qualifications
What you will bring
- Part-qualified or studying towards ACA/ACCA/CIMA, or AAT with intent to progress.
- Experience in a similar management accounting role.
- Business knowledge is advantageous.
Experience
- Proven experience in management accounting.
- Experience using Oracle Fusion (preferred).
