Job Description
United Utilities have awarded Costain a new Managed Service Provider (MSP) framework contract. Under the contract Costain provide the overall management and delivery of United Utilities’ larger-scale water and wastewater asset maintenance activities across the entirety of its network, including 96 water treatment and 575 wastewater treatment sites, which serves over six million people in the Northwest of England.
We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join the dynamic Core Project Team on the MSP Framework, which delivers critical and complex infrastructure improvements for our client United Utilities. Projects range in value up to £3m and the Assistant Quantity Surveyor will be directly responsible for the commercial management of a portfolio of projects.
Responsibilities
- Managing to deliver a number of projects ranging in values up to £3m
- Preparation of Client Proposals relating to the works carried out under the MSP Framework
- Management and agreement of Compensation Events and Change on the projects
- Providing support to Senior Quantity Surveyor and liaising with Customer’s Commercial Team
- Ensuring contractual and commercial risks and opportunities are identified to the Commercial Manager
- Preparing monthly progress valuations and claims for work completed within deadlines
- Ensuring effective and consistent implementation of the Company's commercial policies and procedures
- Prepare, review and complete of sub-contract documentation
Qualifications
- A creative and innovative approach to problem-solving
- Strong analytical skills
- Proficient at working with Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint.)
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Holds an RICS / CICES accredited degree
