Assistant Underwriter - Commercial Real Estate

Role Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Assistant Underwriter to join our dynamic team. In this key role, you will support our underwriting team by helping to assess and process loan applications. Your contributions will be vital in ensuring that all loan applications are meticulously reviewed and meet our lending criteria.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the initial review and assessment of loan applications within CRE
• Collect, verify, and manage documentation required for loan applications.
• Conduct preliminary analyses of applicant creditworthiness and property valuations.
• Communicate with brokers, clients, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all applications in the underwriting system.
• Support Underwriters in preparing and presenting loan cases for approval.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory and company policies throughout the underwriting process.
• Manage communication with introducers, brokers, valuers, and surveyors to ensure smooth processing of loan applications.
• Organise and manage valuation instructions, inspections, and reports, as well as invoice payments and case file maintenance.
• Perform essential checks, including Land Registry, AML, KYC, and other intelligent checks for new cases.

Role Requirements:

• A Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, or a related field is desirable.
• Previous experience in underwriting or lending, particularly in the bridging loan sector, is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to assess and manage risks effectively.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
