Our mission is to build in-house technical expertise for over 600 Home Office applications.
You’ll help deliver and maintain critical public services—from identity verification and visa applications to systems supporting policing and counter-terrorism—enhancing how we use data and technology to serve the UK.
Job Description
As an Associate DevOps Engineer, you’ll support and maintain our platforms by resolving tickets and implementing updates. Guided by experienced engineers, you’ll develop your knowledge of our platforms, pipelines, and automation practices.
Technologies We Use
We support continuous learning and use a wide range of tools, including:
- Backend: C#, Python
- Frontend: React, JavaScript, TypeScript
- Data: PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, MongoDB
- DevOps: Kubernetes, Azure, Docker, Terraform, Azure DevOps
- Other: Azure OpenAI Studio, Power Platform, Power BI
Key Responsibilities
- Write scripts and configuration files (e.g., Docker, Terraform, Ansible) to support platform operations
- Troubleshoot and resolve platform issues
- Support monitoring and provide feedback to project teams
- Advise developers on system usage and CI/CD configuration
- Follow engineering standards to ensure high-quality service delivery
Person specification
UK residency and security requirements - You need to have lived in the UK for the past 5 years.
Essential criteria
You’ll have a demonstrable passion for DevOps, with the following skills or some experience in:
- Designing, coding, testing, maintaining, and documenting simple scripts to automate build and deployment activities.
- Assisting with design and implementation of cloud components using AWS or Azure.
- Assisting with implementation of automated testing, scanning and/or code analysis tooling.
- Using application monitoring tooling to monitor and alert on the performance and availability of applications.
- Implementing and maintaining simple CI/CD pipeline steps.
- Assisting with cloud resource data management, such as naming, tagging, metadata, backups, and documentation.
