Associate Director of Highways Infrastructure – Leeds, UK

Salary: £70,000 - £85,000 + 8% Pension Contribution

Hours: 35-hour working week

Location: Leeds City Centre (Hybrid Working Available)

The Role

As an Associate Director of Highways Infrastructure, you will lead teams and manage high-profile infrastructure projects from feasibility to construction. Your expertise in commercial and financial management, stakeholder engagement, and technical leadership will be critical in ensuring successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, procurement, and construction stages of highways infrastructure projects.
  • Manage and mentor multidisciplinary teams, supporting their technical and professional development.
  • Oversee project budgets, contract negotiations (NEC, JCT), and risk assessments.
  • Develop strong relationships with clients, local authorities, and contractors, ensuring seamless project execution.
  • Contribute to business development, including bid writing and securing new contracts.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, including CDM 2015.


Essential

What We’re Looking For

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) through ICE or equivalent (or working towards).
  • BEng/BSc or MEng in Civil Engineering.
  • Approximately 12+ years’ experience in highways engineering, with approximately 3+ years in a senior leadership role.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, including contract negotiation and budget control.
  • Proven track record in stakeholder engagement and project delivery.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and supporting their professional development.


Desirable

  • Experience in both public and private sector projects.
  • Business development and bid writing experience.
  • ICE-registered mentor status.


Work Environment & Expectations

  • Leeds city centre office – expected in-office presence at least 3 days per week.
  • Travel to project sites and client meetings as required.
  • Flexible and hybrid working options available.
