Salary: £50,000 - £65,000 (depending on skills & experience) plus excellent benefits

Location: Palestra, Southwark/ Hybrid working
Expected qualification level: 1 -3 years PQE (equivalent pre-qualification experience in employment law also considered)

The Employment Law team at Transport for London sits within a vibrant 90-strong in-house legal department which deals with an exceptional range of work. The Job
Join us and you'll get involved in work that is unrivalled in the average in-house employment law team. You will be supporting an iconic public service that helps millions of people a day and helps drive the capital's economy. You’ll also advise other bodies within the GLA family. Bringing a can-do, pragmatic approach, you'll join a team which handles a wide range of matters including ET claims, all matters relating to the employee life-cycle, organisational claims industrial action and everything in between. This role will have a particular focus on dealing with ET claims, advising on individual employee relations matters and working with colleagues to establish best practice and innovation in our processes.
What You’ll Need - (Essential Criteria)
You’ll be a qualified Employment Lawyer with between one and three year’s PQE as a solicitor or barrister in the UK (or equivalent pre-qualification experience in employment law). You’ll have experience and knowledge of contentious and non-contentious employment law advice. You will be skilled and experienced in managing or overseeing a caseload of employment disputes and advising on individual employee relations matters and have an aptitude for learning about a large and complex organisation.
What You’ll Need - (Desirable Criteria)
You will enjoy the direct contact with clients offered by an in-house role and be quick to build relationships and inspire confidence.
Some experience of the public sector and/or transport (or related sector) experience would be desirable but not essential. Ideally with some knowledge of the TfL Group’s businesses, you will be able to work both independently (with supervision) and with others on larger matters, and enjoy being part of an established team.
Well-organised yet flexible, and confident with technology, you have the initiative, desire, and motivation it takes to manage a varied workload and support the team achieve its goals, and enjoy applying your mind to identify opportunities for innovation and work with colleagues to deliver.
