Ricoh are currently recruiting for an Associate Legal Counsel who will advise on legal and commercial risks associated with business operations, their potential impact and suggested mitigating actions for Ricoh at Group level. You will be responsible for decision making and escalation of strategic issues on predominantly Digital Services and Commercial contracts ranging from those that are small (less than €100k) to contracts that are large (up to €50m).

What you will be doing
- Draft and negotiate commercial contracts, this includes documents focused on digital services (such as cloud service agreements) and template agreements.
- Advise on contracts affecting Ricoh UK and Ricoh Europe with a particular focus on complex UK agreements and pan European and global customer contracts
- Managie external legal advisers to time, quality and cost and having accountability to local CFO’s for control of spend.
- Responsible for decision making and escalation of strategic issues on predominantly Digital Services and Commercial contracts ranging from those that are small (less than €100k) to contracts that are large (up to €50m).
- Ensure that Group policies and initiatives are implemented and understood by the business and monitor processes to ensure compliance across EMEA OpCos
- Develop and maintain good working relationship with OpCos in-house counsels and management to produce group wide effective contracts
- Manage external legal support to cost and quality controls and the group’s risk profile by drafting robust contracts and providing accurate legal advice to any group project activity
- Manage reports to agreed performance levels with set objectives and review points (if applicable)
- Counsel, advise, and train relevant staff on legal matters that represent a particular risk for the organisation, plus become a natural “go to” lawyer and evidences a strong contribution to the EMEA wide legal team
- Ensure that projects/ activity conclude to time and quality.
You will ideally have
- Successful candidates will be a qualified solicitor/barrister or equivalent and have several years proven experience PQE in a relevant role. Plus have fluency in English both written and spoken, any other language skills are also highly desirable.
- You will have experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts: This includes documents focused on digital services (such as cloud service agreements) and template agreements
- Candidates will ideally have a strong commercial background and awareness with a customer-centric approach, way that enhances customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- Ideally candidates will demonstrate compliance knowledge, including an understanding of global data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR), and experience in managing other compliance issues for a large organisation being an advantage
- Preferably candidates will have proven problem solving skills, with the ability to create and present alternative solutions to business risks
- You will ideally be able to demonstrate strong time management, prioritisation, and organisational skills. Plus the ability to manage a large volume of work to tight and competing deadlines.
- Ideally candidates will be effective communicators with both internal and external, including evidence of sophisticated negotiation skills at all levels.
- Candidates will preferably have strong presentation skills, including the ability to run internal training sessions
- Successful candidate will have a background of project management skills, with the ability to lead and manage multiple work projects and cross-functional projects, ensuring timely and successful completion. Plus the ability to work effectively in cross-functional and multicultural teams.
- Any experience working in global/regional environment is an advantage, including supporting, promoting and implementing Group initiatives and strategies across several jurisdictions.
