Our team

Our Leveraged Finance / Private Credit team is led in London by Ben Davis and we work with an enviable list of private credit funds, including Morgan Stanley Private Credit, ICG, Crescent, Tikehau, LGT, Three Hills, PGIM and DunPort. The team also supports our wider national leveraged finance team and therefore also works on sponsor-side financings (supporting our leading mid-market private equity team) as well as bank-led financings, offering an interesting mix of work. There is a very significant European flavour to our deals and we are regularly working with our continental European leveraged finance colleagues across France, Benelux, Germany, Italy and the Nordics.

The breadth and quality of work that we undertake sets us apart from many of our competitors. On the majority of transactions, we act opposite Magic Circle, Silver Circle and top tier US firms. Many of our Partners and Associates have joined the team from Magic Circle, US and similar high quality finance practices, and work alongside Associates and Partners who have been with the firm from the early stages of their careers.

Our leveraged finance team is ranked in Band 3 (Chambers) and Ben Davis is ranked in Band 2 (Chambers) for mid-market, lender-side leveraged finance transactions. Ben Davis is one of the original European private credit lawyers, has been involved in the development of unitranche intercreditors since their inception, and was one of the founding partners of Proskauer’s private credit team.

Our national Banking & Finance Practice Group covers corporate / leverage finance, real estate finance, energy & infrastructure finance, funds finance and debt capital markets. We are looking to build out our practice across the UK and have ambitious plans for growth.

Role and key responsibilities

We have an opportunity for an Associate/Senior Associate (3-6PQE) to join us in London, working as part of the national Banking Practice Group to support a broad range of banking transactions across Leveraged Finance. The candidate will therefore gain experience of working with private credit funds, private equity sponsors and banks.

Team members of all levels are expected to be engaged in business development activities, including organising & attending larger set-piece marketing events as well as more ad hoc / opportunistic meetings.

Key Skills and Experience:

We are looking for candidates who:

• Are currently 3-6PQE
• Looking for an Associate/Senior Associate role
• Have strong experience specifically in Leveraged Finance (sponsor or lender side, preferably mid-market)
• Have experience of / a willingness to get involved in pan-European financings – in this regard, further European language skills are particularly interesting.
