Role Description:
We are seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join and develop our Structures, Geotechnical and GIS team as Associate Technical Director in Scotland. In this role, you will lead our team through innovative projects focused on exciting geotechnical projects across the world. Our work is both challenging and rewarding, providing an opportunity to shape the future of infrastructure.
As an Associate Technical Director, you will provide technical leadership and work on a variety of projects. Reporting to the Technical Director, the successful candidate will provide dynamic professional technical leadership to our engineering teams to meet client expectations. Our client list includes respected organisations such as Transport Scotland, National Highways, HS2, and International Governments, reflecting our commitment to delivering high-quality solutions with a global impact.
You will have an extensive practical understanding of geotechnical matters, appreciation of commercial and contract management, and experience of technical delivery of complex projects/programmes of work. The role necessitates the ability to work effectively across organisational boundaries, both internally and externally to Arcadis, and offers a pathway towards senior management positions.
Role Accountabilities
Technical Leadership: Technically lead and coordinate complex multi-disciplinary projects and programmes of work throughout the design life cycle
Lead and Mentor: Provide line management, guidance and successfully lead multidisciplinary teams, fostering professional growth and promote a culture that is proactive on safety, health, quality, sustainability, collaboration and innovation.
Project Oversight: Ensure the successful delivery of projects by setting clear goals and maintaining high standards of quality and safety. Build and sustain adequate resource for the delivery of projects and identify strategic recruitment needs.
Client Engagement: Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, ensuring their needs and expectations are met and exceeded.
Innovative Solutions: Champion the development of sustainable and forward-thinking engineering solutions.
Qualifications & Experience
Extensive expertise in geotechnical engineering, with experience in both new build and asset management projects.
Chartered Engineer status (or equivalent), with a degree in Civil Engineering or other directly related degree
Proven experience in leading complex engineering projects with a focus on quality, safety and sustainability.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively manage client and team relationships.
Has excellent people management skills, ensuring that the best talent is used to meet the resource demands for the projected workload
