Brand New Role – Permanent – UK Wide Hybrid Working
The UK has set out its ambition to be net zero by 2050 and the energy industry is responding – together we are building a cleaner, greener Britain.
Strategic Infrastructure are moving to a programmatic delivery approach and an enterprise based collaborative contracting model. It is anticipated that the programme will include projects delivered through conventional scope-based contracts and schemes delivered through the Great Grid Partnership (GGP) delivery model.
The Onshore Programme Management Office (PMO) has a significant role to play in supporting delivery of these projects.
Governance and Assurance plays a key role in supporting the project teams ensuring that all company procedures and standards are followed as prescribed.
The Onshore Assurance Manager will play a significant role in directing and delivering these schemes and contracts. Reporting into the Head of Governance and Assurance, this role will manage around 5 colleagues including Analysts and a Technical Secretary.
This professional team are geographically dispersed across the UK and so applications are welcome from anywhere. This team, like many across National Grid, utilise various offices to get together, circa once per month or more depending on business need. We typically use our Birmingham office as a natural centre point which is easily accessed via public transport.

About You

- A good understanding of regulatory frameworks and drivers within which a PMO operates, including when engagement from other key teams is critical.
- Solid influencing skills to drive rollout and acceptance of our BP500-SI framework
- The ability to see and draw together disparate activities/groups to improve process & efficiency.
- A passion for working collaboratively and a good appreciation of how to create an environment for high performing teams.
- The ability to interact appropriately at range/all levels of organization

What You'll Do
- You’ll have ownership & management of day-to-day operation of BP500-SI Gate governance process
- You’ll support the implementation of the governance framework for Onshore implementation of the Great Grid Upgrade
- You’ll work with Head of Governance and Assurance to ensure alignment between Onshore and Strategic Infrastructure Stakeholders (Finance, Portfolio Management Office and CRO)
- Managing the governance arrangement and calendar for Onshore, you will ensure alignment with governance boards outside of onshore.
- Supporting Project Directors with business case approvals, you will develop gate and regulatory packs , training the wider project teams to ensure compliance
Additionally you will identify opportunities for improvement, develop from lessons learned and effectively manage a high performing assurance team.
What You'll Get
A competitive starting salary between £70,000 – £85,000 dependent on capability.
As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus of up to 30% of your salary for stretch performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
