The Shaw Gibbs Group has several offices in Central and Southern England and have ambitious plans to expand our business. To support the organisation’s growth, we have an opportunity for an Audit Semi-Senior Associate to join our team.


The Role

As an Audit Semi-Senior Associate, you will play a key role in audit engagements, working closely with clients and team members to deliver high-quality audits, whilst working towards completing their qualification, such as ACA or ACCA. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional looking to progress in their career within a supportive and forward-thinking firm.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A degree at 2.2 or above in any discipline; a minimum of 120 UCAS points
  • Maths GCSE grade 6 (B) or above (or equivalent) and English GCSE at grade 4/5 (C) or above (or equivalent)
  • Part qualified ACA or ACCA
  • 1-2 years’ of audit experience working in an accountancy practice.
  • Experience of working effectively within a team.
  • Experience of leading audits would be advantageous.
  • Strong IT skills including good knowledge of Microsoft Excel.


Skills and Personal Qualities

  • Assist in statutory audits for a variety of clients in a semi-senior capacity initially, developing into a senior role as the candidate progresses towards qualification.
  • Assist with the accounts preparation of sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies
  • Assist with preparation of VAT returns
  • Assist with basic tax compliance matters
  • Work at client premises, gaining awareness of business activities and operations.
  • Work with Partners and staff to provide a personal, professional service for the benefit of both clients and the Firm.


Other Duties and tasks:

  • Assist with producing accounts files for manager/partner reviews
  • Assist with bookkeeping and management accounting assignments as required.
  • Assist with completing draft corporation and income tax computations.
