Key Responsibilities
- Test Planning & Execution
- ✔ Develop, implement, and execute comprehensive test plans for GOV.UK digital services.
- ✔ Identify key testing objectives and ensure coverage of user requirements across multiple environments.
- Functional & Non-Functional Testing
- ✔ Conduct a variety of tests including:
- Functional
- Regression
- Integration
- User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
- ✔ Perform non-functional testing such as:
- Performance and Load testing
- Security testing
- Usability testing
- Automation & Test Framework Development
- ✔ Design and build scalable test automation frameworks using industry best practices.
- ✔ Write and maintain automated test scripts using:
- Java, JavaScript
- Playwright, RestAssured (BDD), or similar frameworks
- ✔ Automate API testing using Postman, RestAssured, or equivalent tools.
- ✔ Integrate test automation into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing and rapid deployment.
- Defect Management & Reporting
- ✔ Identify, document, and manage defects using Azure DevOps or JIRA.
- ✔ Collaborate closely with development teams to facilitate efficient issue resolution.
- ✔ Generate comprehensive test reports and communicate test outcomes to stakeholders.
- Collaboration & Agile Delivery
- ✔ Actively contribute to Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning and retrospectives (Scrum/Kanban).
- ✔ Collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers, product managers, and business analysts to define effective test strategies.
- ✔ Provide mentorship and guidance to junior testers on automation practices and tooling.
- Compliance with GOV.UK & DDAT Standards
- ✔ Follow GOV.UK Service Design Principles and DDAT frameworks.
- ✔ Ensure all test approaches align with government security, accessibility, and compliance standards.
Technical Skills & Experience
- ✔ Over 6 years of hands-on experience in test automation and software quality assurance.
- ✔ Strong experience with automation testing frameworks including:
- Playwright
- Selenium
- Cypress (for UI automation)
- ✔ Expertise in API testing using:
- ✔ Proficiency in programming languages:
- ✔ Skilled in building test automation frameworks from scratch tailored to project needs.
- ✔ Deep understanding of microservices architecture and related testing complexities.
- ✔ Familiar with CI/CD tools such as:
- Jenkins
- GitHub Actions
- GitLab CI
- ✔ Experience in frontend testing technologies:
- ✔ Competent in SQL and relational database testing.
