MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Support and contribute to the management and reporting of the Bank’s expenses portfolio. This includes planning process for budgeting; ensuring expense data to be at its most accurate, complete and timely. Forming effective partnerships with all departments within Bank, in EMEA, Head Office as well as our external auditors to seamlessly manage the complete expenses portfolio.
Primary activities include (but are not limited to):
- Monthly, quarterly and year-end close process for expense-related accounts, ensuring completeness and accuracy including accrual processing, monthly journals and delayed monthly closing adjustments preparation and review.
- Detailed reconciliation of expenses to source invoices and liaising with business owners to ensure validity and accuracy of individual expense transactions.
- Provide detailed MI, expense commentary and variance analysis to Senior Management.
- Managing ad-hoc queries in relation to the London expenses end-to-end process.
- Assisting Financial Planning team on expense line forecasting and budgeting.
- Quarterly and semi-annual Japanese GAAP and US GAAP reporting preparation and review ensuring complete, accurate and timely preparation and submission of reports and following up with auditor queries.
- Quarterly expense reports to external Auditors.
- Quarterly submission of Bank of England expense report, in coordination with the Finance Regulatory Reporting team to ensure alignment in financial disclosure.
- US GAAP SOX Testing.
- Half yearly Variable Interest Entity reporting.
- Support TAX team on VAT related issues, Taxable Benefits and Tax reporting to HMRC.
- Management of Intercompany Agreements (IAAs) both intra and inter EMEA region, US and Asia.
- Invoicing and following up on cash remittance for services carried out in London on behalf of MUFG offices.
- Overall responsibility of contractors timecards calculation for investment projects.
- Special Finance Projects – support ad hoc expense projects.
- Drive automation initiative, testing new business intelligence tools and assisting in the development of automated reporting solutions.
- Develop, enforce and maintain internal policies and procedures related to expense accounting in accordance with the relevant GAAP and MUFG guidelines, review and enhance internal controls.
Skills And Experience
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Proficient with Excel, Word and Access)
- Good exposure to accounting software packages.
