About the Role:

We are currently seeking a highly skilled AWS & Python Backend Developer to join our team on a long-term contract based in London, UK. This is a hybrid role, requiring on-site presence three days per week. The ideal candidate will have significant hands-on experience in backend development, cloud infrastructure (AWS), and modern development practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems and services using AWS and Python.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile (SCRUM) environment to deliver robust software solutions.
• Implement secure and high-performance APIs, including GraphQL.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
• Utilize CI/CD pipelines for code integration, testing, and deployment with automated quality checks and rollback capabilities.
• Leverage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using AWS CDK to ensure scalability, including the provisioning of EMR clusters.
• Participate in design and code reviews, contributing to software architecture decisions.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Minimum 8 years of experience in backend application development.
• Strong proficiency in Python and object-oriented programming.
• Solid experience with AWS services, including:
• Lambda
• SNS
• S3
• DynamoDB
• Aurora Database
• Frontend integration experience using React.js.
• Familiarity with SQLAlchemy or similar ORM tools.
• Strong understanding of GraphQL, API security/authentication, and performance optimization.
• Proficient in building and managing CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience working with GIT and branching strategies in a collaborative team environment.
• Knowledge of IaC practices using AWS CDK, with experience in deploying and managing EMR clusters.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution.
• (Equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.)
• 6–12 years of experience in Information Technology with a focus on application development.
