Are you looking for the chance to work creatively to meet the diverse needs of service users who are likely to meet the criteria for Personality Disorders and/or complex trauma? Do you like working alongside different disciplines?

We are excited to offer an Assistant Psychologist (Band 4) Full-time (37.5 hours) post within our Enhanced Team for Personality Disorders, based in Solihull.

The team is unique, enhanced and psychological led and informed. We support clients who have received a diagnosis of personality disorder or have related difficulties, with added complexity. The team also work to support community and acute services through consultation, supervision and training, to help the person remain in the community. Where appropriate, this may also include working directly with clients, often offering bespoke and tailored psychological formulations and interventions.

As the Assistant Psychologist to the team, your work will be to support the work of the Enhanced Team for Personality Disorders, and various aspects of the routine clinical work, for example undertaking file reviews, supporting the development of formulations, risk assessments and literature searches. There may be opportunities to be involved in training, supervision groups and consultation. Part of the role may also include administration of outcomes measures, research and service development. There might be a an opportunity for direct clinical work but this is not the focus of this post.

  • Under the management, clinical supervision, and direction of a qualified and suitably experienced professional psychologist, works within guidelines and procedures determined and monitored by the qualified psychologist, exercising initiative within agreed parameters and referring to the psychology manager in relation to non-routine matters.
  • Supports qualified psychologists in the delivery of clinical services.
  • Supports qualified psychologists in governance, audit, research and clinical administrative activities, collecting, collating and analysing data, writing and presenting reports and assisting in project development under the guidance of the psychologist as required.
  • Assists qualified psychologists in the planning and contributing of teaching/training programmes.
  • Participates in personal appraisal and continuing professional development activities as agreed with psychology line manager.
  • In completing duties, draws on a knowledge base commensurate with a good honours degree in psychology and eligibility for graduate membership of the BPS.
