Job Overview

The CAMHS Young Peoples Team (YPT) are looking for an enthusiastic Band 4 Assistant Psychologist to join our established multi-disciplinary team. This post is fixed term or secondment for 8 months and is a full time position (37.5 hours) . We provide a service from Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm.

YPT work with young people aged up to 18 years who are living in care, adopted, homeless or involved with youth justice. We provide support to young people and their carers where there is a diagnosis of a moderate to severe mental illness.

The successful applicant should have a knowledge of the care systems within the UK, including an understanding of the complex needs faced by young people who have experienced trauma in their childhoods.

The successful applicant will have a passion for working with young people and show compassion and trauma informed decision making and delivery of care and have a good knowledge of the diversity and cultural needs of the communities living in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. You will be able to demonstrate confidence in learning to navigate new systems and utilise screening measures within our service and will be confident in data interpretation.

Job Description Summary (Main Duties And Responsibilities)

  • To support and enhance the professional psychological care of clients within the service, across all sectors of care; providing psychological assessment and psychological interventions under the regular supervision of a qualified practitioner psychologist.
  • Working independently according to a plan agreed with a qualified psychologist and within the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures.
  • To assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, development of audit and/or research projects, teaching and project work.
