An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, enthusiastic & hard working Band 5 Physiotherapist to work within our dynamic adult Out-patient Therapy MSK team at Mid Yorks Hospitals NHS Trust.
The rotations will include MSK Outpatients, Gym/Hydrotherapy and Rheumatology. The successful candidates will be expected to work on any of the 3 sites within the Trust
We offer regular in-service training, supervision and peer support for CPD from highly specialised, experienced Physiotherapists and Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioners within the team. This role will include opportunities to be involved with service development and inclusion in the Special Interest groups within MSK OP Therapies.
Main duties
- To provide physiotherapeutic assessment of MSK patients with a range of clinical presentations, physical and psychological symptoms in a broad variety of settings.
- The clinician will provide a differential diagnosis, develop, and deliver an individual treatment programme for this patient.
- To provide peer support and supervision and to members of the musculoskeletal team.
- To provide clinical education of physiotherapy students on placement.
- To manage own workload demonstrating effective time management and organisational skills

Patient Assessment
- The ability to interview and examine a patient incorporating subjective and objective elements in order to identify problems to be treated and/or goals of treatment.
Clinical reasoning
- The ability to analyse clinical findings by applying appropriate theory and principles and synthesising them with the assessment findings in order to justify the treatment approach.
- To be aware of own capabilities.
- Can analyse most complex problems.
Identify problems/goal setting
- The ability to define a patient’s problems and set prioritised mutually agreed timely goals.
- Apply theoretical principles, relating them to assessment findings.
- Ability to undertake the assessment of complex patients.
- Takes a holistic view using a breadth of clinical knowledge.
Application of treatment modalities
- The safe and effective application of physiotherapeutic skills to achieve specific outcomes.
- Select and apply a broad range of modalities efficiently and effectively.
- Justify selection of modality
Progress management plan and achieve discharge
- The ability to progress the management plan towards achieving the agreed goals and ultimately discharge the patient from Physiotherapy.
- Use reflective practice to improve patient care.
- Able to progress treatment with most patients.
- Contribute to discharge planning in the multidisciplinary team.
- Achieve discharge without guidance for the majority of patients.
- Able to give advice to others.
- Know when to seek advice.
Patient clinical records
- The recording of all clinical contact in a manner consistent with recognised professional standards.
- Keep accurate records in accordance with local standards and national legal requirements.
- Records show evidence of clinical reasoning.
- Instruct others in recording.
- Monitor documentation as required.
