Description
This post is an excellent opportunity for an SLT who is passionate about stroke care and wanting to develop their skills within the Stroke Team as a Band 6 SLT. The Stroke Team provide input to the hyper acute stroke unit, Acute stroke unit and in patient stroke rehabilitation as well as providing support in the community working alongside the Early supported stroke discharge team and with other MDT professionals in community settings. There are opportunities for group work and the use of digital technology to support patient care as appropriate.

We are a small team, where you will receive a warm welcome, regular supervision, training and development opportunities and a united team approach.

To provide specialist assessment, management and treatment to patients with swallowing and/or communication problems within the stroke service which covers Acute inpatients, Early supported Stroke discharge team and general stroke community patients.

To be responsible for a specialist Speech and Language Therapy stroke caseload across North Cumbria as part of the wider community Speech and Language Therapy team. To participate in the development and delivery of training and information packages for a wide range of professionals and carers in the area of stroke.

To contribute to and lead on (where appropriate) service audits, quality improvement projects and service redesign.

To work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary framework to achieve integrated care for patients.

Regularly attendance and contribution to patient and family meetings, both face to face and via video

Write high quality patient reports, including discharge reports for inpatients and community patients

To support clinical education and student placements.

To cover other areas within the wider SLT as and when required

Standard DBS check £21.50, Enhanced DBS check £49.50 + any admin costs.
