This is an opportunity for an enthusiastic and highly skilled Occupational Therapist able to become a part of our Therapy team. You will provide person-centred and evidence-based assessments, intervention, and discharge planning to adults with varied and often complex needs both in an inpatient and outpatient setting in the Hospital. You will receive referrals from the wards, Consultants, GP clinics, as well as other external routes including self-referrals.
Your role is to participate in the every-day management of the adult OT caseload, which covers neurology, oncology, orthopaedics, general medicine, and surgery. You may also have an opportunity to work in AICU setting and to contribute to service development and hospital-wide services/ projects.
You will have proven experience in neurology/ neurorehabilitation, complex discharge planning and equipment needs assessment, and have a sound knowledge of the NHS and UK Social Care systems, available services and referral processes.
You’ll Help Us Make Health Happen By
- Acting as a resource of specialist advice for clients, customers, and colleagues within the scope of your experience and knowledge regarding your specialist area while working closely with your therapy colleagues and the wider teams in and outside the hospital.
- Supporting senior staff and management, and participate in service development, governance and quality assurance activities within your remit.
- Ensuring clear and efficient communication, whether verbal, non-verbal or written, both in expression and active listening, to facilitate comprehension of information.
- Adhering to local and professional standards of clinical care and documentation.
- Being responsible for participating in and encouraging continuing professional development and other activities to maintain evidence – based best practice.
Key Skills / Qualifications Needed For This Role
- Degree in Occupational Therapy
- HCPC registration
- Evidence of experience managing a mixed caseload where demands for different skills are expected simultaneously.
- Able to work on own initiative, prioritise work and meet deadlines.
- Able to work autonomously as a part of a wider MDT
