The adult SLT inpatient service at the Royal Free Hospital provides specialist input for a wide-ranging number of complex aetiologies and our bank staff would work as integrated members of the MDT.
Depending on service need, you will provide assessment and management for patients within our three primary teams of Stroke/Neurology, Health Services for Elderly People and Critical Care, with opportunity to also cover Respiratory, Cardiology, Acute medicine, Renal, Hepatology, Medical Oncology, Surgery, Orthopaedics, Vascular, Liver, HPB, Urology and Infectious diseases as needed.
Our SLT team is highly skilled, running weekly Videofluoroscopy clinics, an SLT-led FEES service and are integral members of the critical care and tracheostomy weaning team. We are committed to using evidenced based practice and delivering excellent clinical outcomes.

- As an autonomous practitioner the post holder will be responsible for the provision of specialist, evidence based SLT assessment, diagnosis and treatment of adult patients in acute and rehabilitation services.
- This post is a rotational post in the specialty areas of Health Services for Elderly People, Acute Medicine/ MAU, Stroke and Critical Care on a 9 monthly basis. The post holder will develop their competencies within
each specialty area working within the departmental competency
framework, taking an active role in continuing professional development.
- Deliver education and training to patients, carers and other healthcare
professionals including nursing staff, junior therapists, and assistants.
- Undertake and present evidence-based projects and research including departmental audit in aforementioned specialty areas, suggesting practice changes, and updating resources, under the supervision of line manager and / or clinical supervisor.
