The practice

This London-based Banking & Finance practice advises a broad lender-side client base including banks, debt funds, private equity sponsors and corporates. The work spans leveraged and acquisition finance, general corporate lending, asset-based and receivables facilities, and loan trading and balance-sheet transactions.

The team is known for handling complex, often bespoke financings rather than high-volume or purely process-driven work. Matters are typically partner-led but associate-driven, with an emphasis on understanding the commercial rationale behind each transaction, not just producing documents.

The role

The associate will take an active role in transactions from an early stage, including drafting and negotiating core finance documents, managing deal processes, and coordinating across parties. There is regular client and counterparty contact, and associates are trusted with real responsibility as they progress.

The role offers exposure across multiple financing products rather than a narrow silo. Associates who perform well are given increasing autonomy, visibility with partners, and the opportunity to develop a rounded finance skillset that translates well across the market.

Requirements

• E&W qualified solicitor with approximately 1–3 years’ post-qualification experience
• Experience in banking and finance, leveraged finance or corporate lending
• Confident drafting and negotiating core finance documentation
• Comfortable taking responsibility and managing matters with appropriate supervision
• Commercial mindset and interest in long-term development within a finance practice
