THIS ROLE IS PREDOMINANTLY BASED WITHIN THE CREMATORIA AT BOTH HUDDERSFIELD AND DEWSBURY MOOR, HOWEVER YOU MAY BE REQUIRED TO WORK WITHIN THE GRAVE DIGGING TEAM.
Bereavement Services is part of Culture & Visitor Economy and provides the full range of crematoria and cemetery services for both Kirklees and non-Kirklees residents.
The role incudes a range of tasks but predominantly undertaking cremations and working front of house. Other tasks include grounds maintenance/repair and duties associated with cremation, memorials and burials. Ensuring the needs of customers are met and that the crematoria grounds and associated buildings are operated and maintained to a high standard.
This is a 37 hour a week position worked over 5 days, flexibility is essential as role includes occasional Saturday working. The post will initially be at Huddersfield whilst training is being undertaken but you will be expected to work across both Dewsbury Moor and Huddersfield Crematorium.
- Commitment to further training and development is required for the role (BTEC Certificate for ICCM Crematorium Technical Operations.
- A good understanding of Health and Safety practices and willing to complete a Health & Safety Competent Persons Certificate.
- Must undertake standard screening plus any other medical screening as decided by the occupational health physician, appropriate to occupational risk. Any offer of employment is subject to satisfactory health clearance.
- You must be physically fit and able to work in all conditions, you may be required to work in the Grave digging team as required.
- Commitment to further training and development is required for the grave digging role (Cemetery Operatives Training Scheme, COTS).
Travel is an essential part of this job and therefore it would be extremely difficult for you to do your job effectively if you did not use a vehicle for all or most of the time. You must hold a full and valid driving licence and be willing to undertake and pass a Kirklees Council driving test.
