About The Role

Balfour Beatty has a brilliant opportunity for a Bid Lead to join their Regional Civils team. The role will lead, manage and co-ordinate all aspects of strategic opportunities ensuring that high quality, competitive proposals are delivered to the customer in a manner consistent with the Balfour Beatty values and governance.

The successful candidate will be responsible for early engagement and pursuit planning in the pre-bid phase, establishing and maintaining positive and effective relationships with the customer, influencing their procurement strategy to increase probability of successful outcomes.

The role will manage key relationships including Design Partners, Key Supply Chain Partners and Influencers; as well as internal stakeholders across Group.

The role can be based from one of our offices in England and Balfour Beatty operate a hybrid working policy.

What you'll be doing

Lead the pursuit of strategic opportunities from early engagement tender, and pre-construction.

Retain oversight during preconstruction stages to drive opportunity conversion before handover to operations.

Be accountable for the content and cadence of strategic pursuit plans.

Accountable for pursuit plan deliverables, customer engagement, bid budgets, resources, programmes and quality of our bids.

Accountable for internal stakeholder engagement, management, and communication for implementation of these across the group.

Compliance with governance processes and ensure quality standards are maintained across the team(s), recommending improvements where necessary.

Ensure a compelling network of customer relationships with the key decision-makers, buying and power centres.

Lead, manage, coach and develop talented teams to deliver high performance.

Accountable for development and agreement of compelling commercial proposal.

Accountable for delivery of a successful SQ/ quality submission/ interview.

Identify and assemble high performing teams.

Ability to lead multi-disciplinary bid teams across Group businesses.

A highly-organised, innovative, creative, self-aware and experienced Work Winning professional, with experience of multi-layered, complex stakeholder interfaces.

Able to talk credibly and persuasively about the Balfour Beatty brand and value proposition.

Able to create empathy and rapport with stakeholders.

Able to work effectively with operations, commercial and other functions to create compelling offers to our customers.

Resilience and a determination to succeed and cope with the challenges and frustrations of a sales environment.

A good understanding of commercial management in order to challenge, drive and influence our commercial offer.

Able to lead on Risk and Opportunity management specifically in relation to these opportunities.

Able to switch appropriately between holistic view of the opportunity and granular detail.
