The role
As a Bid Manager, you’ll be at the heart of our business growth strategy—leading cross-functional teams to deliver winning proposals that support some of the UK’s most critical defence and engineering programmes. This is a dynamic and rewarding opportunity to influence major projects, drive innovation, and make a real impact on national security and global safety.
Day to day you’ll have the following responsibilities:
- Leading and coordinating the development of competitive, compliant, and compelling proposals.
- Managing bid teams including coordinators, writers, graphic developers, apprentices, and graduates.
- Collaborating with Business Development to manage customer procurement portals.
- Driving cross-functional collaboration to meet client requirements.
- Developing bid plans, schedules, and stakeholder engagement strategies.
You’ll be based at Rosyth Royal Dockyard Limited (RRDL), working 36 hours per week. This role is a 52-week contract.
Essential experience of the Bid Manager:
- Proven experience in bid management within defence or complex procurement environments.
- Strong background in business growth, capture, or solution development.
- Skilled in leading cross-functional teams and building strategic relationships.
- Confident in managing senior-level customer and supplier engagements.
Qualifications for the Bid Manager:
- Ideally degree qualified, but not essential.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
