What you will be doing
Reporting to the Bid Director, the role is strategic, giving direction to the bidding team. Working on a variety of tenders at one time the Bid Manager will manage the team encouraging the best bid response in all areas. You will lead from the front and by example and take responsibility for client and client team engagement.
Key tasks:
• Agree the Bid Win Strategy with the Pre-Construction Director and Bid Director
• Develop a Bid Programme
• Organise, Chair, and attend tender progress meetings, both internal and external.
• Develop a thorough understanding of potential risks and opportunities and ensure the team address them respectively.
• Ensure contract documents are thoroughly reviewed and work with Commercial and Estimating team to understand and agree tender position.
• Ensure AFL or other Tenant documents are adequately reflected / captured in the design
• Research and wider understanding of a scheme.
• Assist with Business Development activities as required.
• Travel as appropriate throughout the UK
What We’re Looking For
Preferably degree or equivalent construction or design qualification. Background in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or Project Management preferred.
Experience
• Previous experience in a similar role
• Working with different forms of building contract - JCT, NEC and bespoke
• Understanding of two-stage, single stage and negotiated tendering
• Confident communicating with colleagues and senior members of management
• The ability to work to tight deadlines
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• Flexibility in approach
• Strong team ethic
