Bid Manager
Salary Range - £55,000 - £65,000 plus bonus
This role can be based out of anywhere in the UK
Key Purpose of the Role
The Bid Manager is responsible for co creating, leadership and delivery of bids. Bids in INRIX are opportunities for the business that either come as part of formal customer-led processes or opportunities that the business has created with clients. The Bid Manager will own the submission of detailed, costed, persuasive proposal – that wins. The role is to ensure that bids are both successful but importantly the commercial case for INRIX is secure. Therefore, the Bid Manager will be responsible for securing internal alignment, the business case and cross functional concurrence. The Bid Manager will have a strong commercial outlook with good technical and project management skills.
Key Accountabilities
- Collaborating with colleagues in Sales and Business Development team to identify opportunities on which to submit bids and feeding into the decision over whether to bid for the work.
- Proactively monitor upcoming tenders in the market, register and submit successful responses for the business, to also include relevant government frameworks.
- Manage and track identified bids, in progress, in negotiation and delivery to submission.
- Lead on story boarding for winning a bid, once signed on for development, including pinpointing the unique selling points (key differentiators) of INRIX.
- Controlling the bid delivery process, involving researching, tasking others, writing, integrating and/or checking proposals such that INRIX delivers the professional proposals and information across the lifecycle of the process.
- Working with key members of the INRIX team to obtain the information required to compile the bid, and maintaining / updating the existing bid library and ensuring document control activity.
- Assess and address the technical and commercial risks relating to the bid they are working on, form a risk register on larger bids and work with others on mitigation strategies.
- Working with bid partners and when appropriate forming bid structures such as joint bids and ventures. Manage virtual teams to deliver outcomes and put any appropriate legal structures in place.
- Monitor bid trends, product reports on current bid activity, business drivers and future market trends
- Coordinate and lead responses to clients’ and other stakeholders’ queries before, during and after the bid has been submitted
- With bid success, brief the Customer Success team who will carry out the project delivery and hand over professionally into service.
- During final bid submission the role holder can expect increased based activity where hours may be longer.
Likely Candidate
- Proven in the bid management space
- Have experience of public sector bidding
- Knowledge of dealing with highly technical based bids
- Can innovate and think out of the box
- Capable of leading teams mostly virtual
Experience
Person Specification Overview
- Leading major bid managed deals in technical based market
- Working in a high growth and dynamic environment
- Ideally certification in bid management (Shipley or equivalent)
- Attention to detail, having experience of working with complex contracts and legals.
- Creative thinker with an ability to innovate
Knowledge
- Excellent knowledge of public sector procurement in the EU
- An interest and background in the technology sector coupled with a willingness to keep up to date with industry trends, and legislation
- Understanding of the competitive landscape and B2B market insight
Skills / Abilities & Relevant Competencies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, numerate and capable with spreadsheets
- Creative and innovative thinking and leading virtual teams
- Able to work to tight deadlines
- Problem-solving skills. Be confident with senior managers and drive their contributions when necessary
