About the Role

We are looking for a motivated Big Data Technician to support the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of big data platforms and data pipelines. This entry-level role is ideal for graduates or early-career professionals who want hands-on exposure to big data environments, data processing systems, and large-scale datasets while working under the guidance of senior data engineers.

Key Responsibilities

Support day-to-day operations of big data platforms and systems
Monitor data pipelines and batch jobs for performance and failures
Assist in data ingestion, validation, and basic transformations
Support troubleshooting of data processing and system issues
Help maintain data workflows, schedules, and dependencies
Perform routine maintenance and basic performance checks
Maintain operational documentation and runbooks
Work closely with data engineers and analytics teams

Required Skills & Qualifications

Basic understanding of:
Big data concepts and data pipelines

Data processing and ETL fundamentals

Familiarity with:

Linux command line

SQL (basic level)

Exposure to at least one programming or scripting language:

Python, Java, or similar

Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn

Good analytical, communication, and documentation skills

Preferred / Advantageous Skills

Exposure to:
Apache Spark, Hadoop, Hive, or Kafka (academic or lab experience acceptable)
Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP – basic exposure)
Academic projects, internships, or coursework related to:
Big Data
Data Engineering
Computer Science

Education

Bachelor’s degree or diploma in:
Computer Science
Information Technology
Data Engineering
Or a related technical field
