About The Role
Balfour Beatty Power T&D are seeking a highly skilled BIM Engineer with extensive experience in multi-utility design for the Gas, Power & Water Industry.
The ideal candidate will be proficient in Autodesk Civil 3D and Navisworks, with expertise in Common Data Environments (CDE) such as ProjectWise and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC).
This role requires a strong technical background, collaboration across teams, and a commitment to delivering high-quality digital models for utility infrastructure projects.

What you'll be doing
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage BIM models for utility infrastructure projects, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
- Utilize Autodesk Civil 3D to design and model underground and overhead utility networks, including gas pipelines, electrical distribution systems, and water supply networks.
- Conduct clash detection and coordination using Navisworks, resolving conflicts between different utility systems and civil structures.
- Implement and maintain Common Data Environment (CDE) workflows using ProjectWise and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) to ensure efficient data sharing and collaboration.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, and project managers to integrate BIM workflows into the design and construction process.
- Ensure BIM models adhere to regulatory requirements, project specifications, and client expectations.
- Generate detailed drawings, reports, and visualizations to support project planning and execution.
- Maintain and update BIM standards, templates, and workflows to improve efficiency and consistency across projects.
- Provide technical support and training to team members on BIM software and best practices.
- Participate in design reviews, coordination meetings, and stakeholder discussions to optimize project outcomes.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, software advancements, and emerging technologies in BIM and utility design.
Who we're looking for
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in BIM modeling and utility design within the Gas, Power & Water Industry.
- Expert proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D and Navisworks.
- Strong understanding of utility infrastructure design, including gas distribution, electrical networks, and water systems.
- Experience with clash detection, coordination, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Hands-on experience with Common Data Environments (CDE) such as ProjectWise and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC).
- Knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices in utility design and BIM.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with engineers, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Familiarity with Bentley MicroStation, GIS integration, 4D scheduling, and asset management is a plus.
