Kepak St. Merryn in Merthyr Tydfil has combined beef and lamb processing and packing facilities. We offer beef and lamb products ranging from retail ready cuts for butchers' counters to branded packaged meat, all as part of our service; raised on open pastures, sourced from local farmers and hand-selected by our master butchers, we produce beef and lamb products with integrity and unmatched quality assurance.
We are excited to be recruiting for a Boning Hall Manager to work in our Beef Boning Department. This is a full time, permanent position, joining a great team of people. The hours are Monday to Friday starting at 6.00am with a competitive salary.
Requirements
Role Purpose:
Responsible for driving operational excellence of the Boning Hall as measured by core metrics of quality, safety, performance, and people management. Ensure compliance with customer and food safety specifications, regulations. Lead and manage Boning Hall team to promote an inclusive and respectful environment with a key focus on employee health, safety and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Health and Safety: oversees the health, safety and wellbeing of all team members
- Oversee production of high-quality products meeting customer, food safety and regulatory specifications
- Lead and manage the Boning Hall to deliver on core KPIs and margin targets
- Ensure cross-training and role-specific training of staff in line with Health and Safety and Food Safety requirements
- People and culture: Promote positive employee relations and manage staff leave, absence, disciplinary, and grievance processes
- Oversee the smooth running of boning hall processes including boning hall equipment and production process
- Collaborate with support functions (Finance, Food Safety and Quality, Supply Chain, IT) to enable success
- Ensure department adherence to Group standards and strategic initiatives
- Maintain audit readiness and compliance with Kepak and customer food safety and quality standards
- Implement 5S principles to company standards
- Drives operational excellence and continuous improvement in boning hall processes
Skills and Experience
- Experience in primary meat processing at management level
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Product and meat processing industry knowledge
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Commercial awareness and operational business change
- Lean Six Sigma qualification (desirable)
- Knowledge of HACCP, NEBOSH/IOSH (preferred)
- Proficiency in MS Office and Excel applications
