Job: Breast Superintendent

Shift pattern: Monday-Friday, 08:00 – 20:00

The successful post holder will lead the day to day services within the Breast Imaging department, ensuring a 5-star service to all service users. You will be tasked with maintaining an efficient department, remaining cost-effective throughout, whilst managing a team of highly skilled Mammographers.
The Breast Superintendent will be in charge of The Women’s Health Centre breast unit and the Devonshire Diagnostic Centre breast unit. There are 4 mammography rooms, 2 DEXA scanner and 4 ultrasound rooms that comprise the Breast Imaging service over the two sites. This is an exciting opportunity to lead one of the largest private breast units in the UK.
About The Department And Facility
The Mammography Department at Harley Street Clinic is proud of the robust service provided to screening patients and symptomatic clinic patients, offering a breadth of specialty reinforced by state-of-the-art breast imaging equipment from Hologic. Our team of highly skilled mammographers work with leading consultant breast radiologists to deliver a five-star patient experience in close liaison with breast surgeons. The Harley Street Clinic breast imaging team is part of the Imaging department. We offer a full suite of world-class imaging services that garners an international reputation for excellence in complex healthcare.
Duties & Responsibilities
- To manage the day-to-day running of the Breast Imaging Units across the campus in order to provide a professional, efficient and cost-effective unit providing a high standard of diagnostic imaging.
- Participate in the development of the Imaging department including the strategic and business planning of the mammography service.
- Provide professional leadership in the Breast Imaging Unit monitoring professional and patient care standards.
- This will include reviewing staffing levels, skill mixes and working arrangements including use of Workday and Facility Scheduler, reviewing staff training and professional development as well as assisting with annual appraisals.
- To organise the training, supervision and professional development of the staff who will be working in the Breast Imaging Unit
- Act as mentor to staff who are undertaking the Post Graduate Mammography Certificate
- Review actions to increase numbers where these fall below the minimum number expected. This may include rotating staff through other facilities to increase their volumes.
- Develop action plans to address underperformance and identify additional audits as necessary
- Ensure all staff performing mammography perform sufficient volumes to maintain their skills and competencies and have access to and support from the Superintendent Mammographer.
- To be responsible for all management aspects within the legal and policy guidelines with regard to: - Health and Safety, Data Protection, Patient Confidentiality, Equal Opportunities
Skills & Experience
- Experience – BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography or Equivalent
- Post Grad Certificate in Mammography or equivalent
- At least 5 years post qualification experience
- Ability to multitask and delegate under pressure
- Knowledge of relevant hospital policies and procedures
