About The Team
A great opportunity to join Hounslow’s Building Control Service as a Building Control Team Manager.
Working as part of a busy and ambitious team, up to Class 3 level, the successful candidate will carry out examination and inspection of Building Regulation submissions, plans and site work to ensure building works comply with Building Regulations, including complex projects.
You will assist the Head of Building Control with the operation and management of one of the two main areas within the Borough and to undertake inspection/work when required out of Borough and to include consultation and liaison with other sections and departments.
The successful candidate will ensure that Building Control work is carried out in accordance with documented procedures, timescales and deadlines.
If requested, you will join the Dangerous Structure Rota to assist in the provision of an out of hours emergency service.
With training, you will undertake other works such as Architectural Design, Fire Risk Assessments, and Party Wall Agreements etc.
Key Responsibilities
- The examination for compliance of appropriate Building Regulation Applications (including Full Plan, Regularisation, Reversion and Building Notices together with appropriate amendments) deposited under the Building Regulations and associated legislation as instructed and making recommendations to the Head of Building Control including discharging our responsibilities under Safety at Sports Grounds Legislation.
- To manage a small team within an area of the Borough.
- To carry out efficient and regular Building Regulation inspections for all projects (including complex) and to compile accurate records.
- To carry out efficient inspections and to report accurately on dangerous structures and, together with a Building Control Surveyor, advise on remedial measures to be undertaken.
Your Skills
- Ability to clearly communicate and provide advice on technical Building Control matters.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, plans and technical information.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Ability to engage positively with customers and provide a high standard of customer service.
Professional Qualifications
Full corporate membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors or the Association of Building Engineers, or similar Professional Institution membership at corporate level involving a significant Building Control element. Working at or towards the BSR Class 3 specialist surveyor level.
