About the role
As a Building Services Engineer (Electrical - Lifts Specialism), you will lead the delivery of UCL's ambitious 20-year Lift Modernisation Programme, ensuring accessibility, safety, and innovation are at the heart of our estate. Working closely with our Inclusivity and Fire Safety teams, you'll develop and deliver strategies that meet compliance requirements while driving forward sustainability and carbon reduction targets.
Your responsibilities will include:
Leading lift modernisation projects from design through to completion.
Providing expert electrical building services advice on maintenance, refurbishment, and new build works.
Managing contracts, suppliers, budgets, and ensuring compliance with statutory regulations.
Reporting on project progress and risks, supporting strategic planning, and enhancing user experience across UCL's estate.
About you
We're looking for someone who is highly motivated, technically skilled, and passionate about delivering impactful engineering solutions. You'll bring:
Strong experience in designing and managing electrical engineering projects (£5k-£1m).
Specialist expertise in lift installation/modernisation.
Excellent knowledge of statutory regulations (IET Wiring, Equality Act, CDM Regulations, etc.).
Proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritise effectively, and deliver results under pressure.
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative, customer-focused approach.
A relevant degree or professional qualification is desirable, but equivalent experience will also be considered.
