Overview Of Project/role
We’re looking for a Building Support Manager to join our team at Transport for London, supporting the Underground network and helping us maintain safe, clean, and functional environments for our customers and colleagues.
This is a site-based role, working across Stations, Depots, Lineside, Power and Operational Facilities, ensuring our spaces are well-maintained and fit for purpose. You’ll be responsible for monitoring assets, safety, and performance, contributing to a safe and efficient transport system.
You’ll also work closely with the Building & Fabric teams and Customer Operations to identify opportunities for improvement, reduce costs, and embed better ways of working. A key part of the role is keeping stakeholders informed and delivering a strong message of care across all facilities-related matters..
The post holder is required to support and deliver improvement processes and actively work with the Building & Fabric teams and Customer Operations to identify opportunities to reduce cost, embedding better ways of working.
To assist the Built Environment Team to deliver a leading best practice facilities department for our stakeholders. The post holder will deliver a strong message of care to our customers, ensuring they are kept informed on all facilities aspects of their areas.
Key Accountabilities
- Being regularly on site across our network, carrying out regular building & cleaning inspections reporting on cleaning standards and premises asset condition to ensure that a healthy, safe and comfortable working environment is continually provided
- Support, on a day-to-day basis, Facilities Operations managed service contracts, and ensure such services are undertaken in accordance with contract specifications and terms & conditions. Support contractor to comply with health and safety requirements on site. The role will be the first contact for any on site problems, to investigate and report findings.
- Maintain regular and effective communication for internal stakeholders, third parties and other interested parties, ensuring professional, customer focused, helpful and friendly service delivery.
- Monitor faults reported to the asset control centre to deliver a fully responsive service to stakeholders.
- Act as a point of contact between stakeholders, contractors and project managers, to ensure all maintenance and project works are co-ordinated in-line with business needs, ensuring minimal unplanned interruptions to the sites normal workings and the operation of the building(s).
- Write and analyse reports and/or populate spreadsheets to direct and support the efficient and effective delivery of services/projects to meet the needs of our customers and stakeholders.
Skills
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- Be computer literate and have a good knowledge of Outlook and MS Office and and facilities management software (essential)
- Have good interpersonal and communication skills, including excellent verbal, and written communication. (essential)
- Have a flexible approach and an ability to cope under pressure in what can be a very demanding situation in dealing with and balancing the needs of site contacts and the business needs (essential).
- Ability to interpret and analyse data to write reports for management (essential)
Knowledge
- Hold a formal qualification in safety management (essential)
- Demonstrable knowledge of the multi-service disciplines in Facilities including Cleaning, Fabric; Health and Safety legislation (essential)
- Knowledge of Output Specifications and management of Performance Based Contracts (desirable)
Experience
- Have experience of supporting facilities management across a multi-site operation (essential)
- Experience of facilities management (essential)
- Experience of Health and Safety Management in the workplace (essential)
- Experience of managing stakeholder requests and resolving problems (essential)
