Would you like to play a key part in the development and delivery of building investment programmes within a busy department which manages the physical environment in which staff and students work, live and learn? We are looking for a Building Surveyor to join a thriving university in our Estate and Facilities Management department.

About The Role

In this vital, full-time role as a Building Surveyor you will work as part of a small team with a varied workload delivering a variety of planned maintenance and improvement projects across our portfolio.

Some Of Your Responsibilities Will Be

  • To undertake surveys of university buildings to establish their condition
  • To manage the contractual relationships with relevant consultants/contractors
  • To advise on energy efficiency, environmental impact and sustainable construction
  • To advise on the Health and Safety aspects of buildings
  • Assisting in house Clients to develop briefs, design and specify works
  • Perform the role of Contract Administrator and Principal Designer under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations as necessary

About You

To succeed in the role you will need comprehensive knowledge and experience of construction technology and building pathology along with good knowledge of the work practices, processes and procedures required for the delivery of maintenance and improvement projects from inception to completion. You will be qualified to degree level in Building Surveying or a construction based discipline with full or part qualification to RICS/CIOB membership, or an equivalent level of knowledge and skills gained through work experience at a similar level.

We offer a competitive range of benefits, including an agile working system, which at present for this role will require you to spend a minimum of two days in the office.

This is a full-time (37 hours per week) role however we welcome applications from job sharers, and it is a permanent post based in Brighton, UK.
