This is an exciting opportunity to join Newham’s newly formed Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) service at a transformative time for the borough — helping to shape innovative, user-centred digital services that improve the lives of residents and staff alike. The role
As a Business Analyst, you will:
- Lead on business analysis for some of the council’s most complex, high-risk digital products and services
- Engage users and stakeholders to identify challenges, gather evidence, and shape digital solutions that drive transformation
- Translate user needs into well-defined requirements, backlogs and user stories — supporting agile teams throughout delivery
- Analyse service journeys, pain points and processes across departments, with a focus on continuous improvement
- Use qualitative and quantitative data to support decision-making, monitor value, and track benefits
- Champion user-centred design, agile delivery and service mapping across multiple product teams
Key skills required
As a Business Analyst, you will bring:
- A proven track record of working in agile, multidisciplinary teams to design and deliver digital products
- Strong experience with service and process mapping, backlog management and user journey design
- A confident, structured approach to gathering and analysing evidence, and presenting insights clearly to stakeholders
- Experience facilitating workshops, engaging users, and contributing to service design or user research
- Familiarity with modern platforms and tooling, including:
- Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI) — especially in supporting low-code solutions and workflow automation
- Microsoft 365 tools such as SharePoint, Teams, Excel and Forms to support collaborative delivery
- An understanding of cloud-based technologies, agile governance, and the wider DDaT profession
- Experience in the public sector and/or delivering digital services in complex organisations would be an advantage.
